Mercedes C-Class Is The Most Stolen Luxury Car

The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) has recently published a study on the car thefts in America, with the C-Class topping the luxury car class.

The study included thefts that took place in between January 1st, 2009 and December 31, 2012. Over this period, a total of 4,384 luxury vehicles were stolen, out of which 485 were C-Class models. Mercedes’ model was followed by its eternal archenemy, the BMW 3 Series, with 471 thefts. Third spot went to the Infiniti G Series 0 405 reported units.

Mercedes ranks high in the statistics as a brand in general, with the E-Class taking the fourth position and the S-Class closing the top ten.

When it comes to the spread of the phenomenon across the various states, California took the cake with 1,063 thefts. At the other end of the list we find Wyoming and South Dakota, which only registered one theft each.

Nevertheless, the luxury cars are just the tip of the iceberg, as shown by another recent study published by the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI). None of the aforementioned models could be found in this top, which was led by the Ford F-250 pickup truck.
